I know this was written almost a month ago, but I've been remiss in keeping up with your wonderful posts. Braga looks amazing and I need to at least visit it one of these days! Thank you for the short tour. Hope we can meet again soon for coffee in Setúbal!
Hey Shana, Guimarães is your town. Great little Museum Martins Sarmento, great middle age downtown square, beautiful city, and where Portugal was found. The castle is there to attest to it. You must go. Braga to me is just too Catholic despite a nice place
Hello Shanna - you do make train travel sound delightful, especially to one who detests any form of public transport, even pre-pandemic!
Had to giggle at you and forking soup, sorry... :)
We used to travel to Spain’s Extremadura region, neighbouring Portugal, a lot and would often wander over the ‘border’ to have a nosey around. Spain remains our favourite destination of all, especially that region, great for birds and wildlife, as well as still catching up with the world, so relatively tourist free, yay...
Delightful! We’re waiting about four months to get our visa. It’s in Portugal now from San Francisco Consolate. I can’t wait. We’re moving to Figuerira da Foz. Exciting!
Hi Shanna, Sounds like you had a pleasant if somewhat hapless time in Braga! We can't wait to get up there. Have heard great things. Hope you are enjoying Porto. I love days like today after a rain day like yesterday. Beautiful puffy clouds and blue sky. We had lunch out at WOW on Tuesday and it was glorious! It showed us how out of shape we are. 10,000 steps between our place and Gaia, and when I say steps, I mean stair steps! Porto is our stairmaster and we need to get back on it! Now is the perfect time to be seeing the sights, without the crowds that you know will eventually return. You are intrepid. Good work!
