Unfortunately, there's no boats to almost anywhere from Portugal. I would love to travel by boat to the Azores, Morocco, Madeira, but it doesn't appear to be possible. That would be a great solution.
And trains to outside Portugal are almost non-existent.

Safe travels Shanna! You are way more ambitious than I with a yearly visit to the US. We have not been back to the states for over 3 years now and have no plans to return anytime soon. In fact, I am not sure that there is anything that could get me on a plane at this point.
And sadly, I think it is too late to save the planet. It would take more than everyone going vegetarian and carless and that is not even happening.
Unfortunately, the solution espoused by the right is what will happen, and that is to adapt to the inevitably climate change. Sad but true, I am afraid.
Yep, I agree with you. It is all talk & no action from the countries. I was hoping during & after (well we are not done with it) Covid deep changes would occur around the world. Seeing how it only took a short time for some healing to occur in the air, water, land, etc. we should have learned from that. But alas greed always comes into play with those in charge (corporations & wealthy) & nothing. Wish there actually were less flights that so affect the air & atmosphere, real recycling & more re use & repair instead of throwing everything away. But it seems we are getting too late to help the situation. You would hope the young would get more involved, scream from the roof tops since it is their future that will be affected the most if they even have one on this planet. I don't understand people still bringing children into this uncertain world without these issues addressed. All very depressing for sure.
