We went to Tomar for a few days in August to visit friends (one whom has cancer) and, while arranging it was something of an ordeal, (pet hotel for dog, etc.) I am glad we went.

The bonus of going anywhere these days is the complete lack of crowds.

And I feel that it is a moral imperative to support local businesses as much as one can. Can't travel as much as we'd like but we get out as much as we can.

Several friends of mine who live in Portugal have traveled the country over the past month and say it’s awesome—there are not many tourists, even in Sintra. Some places are completely empty. I’m planning to be back in PT in October and do some traveling myself, back up to the mountains to hike and see the Fall colors and breathe that clean fresh air. Nature beckons 🖤

You could look into renting a campervan!! Even if campgrounds aren't open, you could boondock a few nights. I have two dogs and plan to travel through the US some and then bring the whole show to Europe!! Oh, I came across Man in seat 61 last year and really like his site. Thanks!!

It's a lot of extra mental work to travel right now. I hate the process of going to the airport and the hours one spends getting there early, etc. But even that is better than worrying about sanitation the whole way there, then sitting in a plane, who is sitting next to me, who was there before, did the seats get sanitized. Way too much! travel should be relaxing especially is one is planning to take the time and money out to do it. I took the bus in Portugal everywhere. Some rides were 6-8 hours. They were comfortable and I enjoyed the scenery very much. Buses are cheap, organized, clean and run on time. I enjoyed it very much. Thanks for another great post. I very much look forward to your blogs.

No travel indeed. I've been looking forward to visiting in March, but I fear that won't be happening. However, on a happier note, when I visited Portugal in 2018, I traveled by train to Sintra, Porto, Evora, and Lagos and loved every minute of it!
