Hi Shanna,

Good for you to experience Porto! I spent just a week there and really liked it. I wish I could remember the name of a restaurant that serves a vegan special every night along with their main menu, but I can't. I checked my credit card statements and nothing. I actually seem to recall they did not take them! Since you'll be there for a while, go to the BOX hotel and ask them about such a place. They are the ones that told me about it. It is a short walk from the BOX.

For the best chocolate ever, Chocolataaria Equador in the main tourist shopping section!! Right across the street is Lufa Lufa for cool T-shirts. TYPOGRAPHIA too.

Further north is Viana do Castelo! A smaller town that I might just end up living in someday!

I have a bit of news for you. Due to COVID and reduced tourism, several Caribbean islands are offering long-term remote work visas. As of yesterday, I am a resident of Grand Cayman in the Cayman Islands for the next two years! I brought my two little dogs and renting a place 90-seconds from Seven Mile Beach! I can't believe I'm here. I do need to quarantine for 10 days, but it will be worth it.

Thank you for being an inspiration to really get out and "experience" the world, not just see it. I'm sure I'll see you again in Europe within the 2020s!!

Bernie

Hi Shanna does this mean you're leaving Setubal eventually? Poor Milo, bless him! Has he recovered from his ordeal and have you?! I thought I had lost one of mine not long after we moved back from Spain! he had polyps in his ear and couldn't hear us call him (he had those removed after) He crossed a busy road and some kids got hold of him and took him to a vets. They tried the microchip and it was still registered to the vets in Spain!! We got him back eventually and got a ticking off from the local council! It can happen to anyone!! Anyway, we are all so pleased you got Milo back, it must have been so traumatic for you! When places are dirty to start with, you never quite feel as though it's clean again! How long are you staying there? If you decide to move there, I assume you'll look for a different apartment?! Take care Shanna, sending love & luck in whatever you do! xxx

Bem vindo ao Porto Shanna!

I had to laugh about your new apt. here. It reminded me of when we first moved into our apt. in Gaia two years ago. We hired a cleaner and I still had to get a hazmat suit to work on cleaning the bathroom! It took our cleaning gal an entire day to clean the kitchen, it was so greasy and grimy. Ugh!

This is why it was so nice to move into a newly remodeled and clean apt here in Porto in October.

We love Porto and it is home for us. The weather is very SF, Seattle like. I have even been thinking about going south for the months of Dec.-Feb. or parts thereof. It does rain near constantly in the winter. That being said, it is positively glorious from May-Oct. Porto will always be home for us. We really prefer the cooler weather. The food is fab, as are the people.

Enjoy!
