hello shanna, so good to know you are still at it. Livia and I finally did the jump and moved to Lisbon. We live around the corner, or across the street actually, form the gulbenkien museum. Would love to see you again. 964227296 big hug Felipe
Hi Shanna! I was happy to see your new post. Glad to hear from you again. You mentioned "slow travel" in your post. I'd like to know more about what that means to you. For me, it means going to a place, staying a while, and trying to experience what it's like to live there. This is the opposite of traveling "to see" things - as in "We went to Rome to see the Colosseum" or "We went to the Louvre to see the Mona Lisa". I've got a little more detail in a recent post: https://thecookandthewriter.com/2023/11/08/inside-the-walls-48-hours-in-lucca/
Is this anything like what you're talking about? I want to do a more in-depth post in January on the topic, so would love to hear your thoughts and slip in a quote.
What a delight to hear your thoughts again. Hurray! And thank you. I know it takes courage to reach out again, when you've been living your life without this habit for a while! Trust me, you'll always have a room ready and waiting, and a place to sit and chat with your favorite cuppa. <3
Hi Shanna! Great to hear from you again! Looks like you've had lots going on and visited many places! How are you? I hope you're well and C. too! I hope you have a wonderful Christmas & New Year, I don't know whether you'll remember but my family and I nearly lost mom in February? Well, she's still with us, in a care home anyway. She is being well looked after, she loves it there! She will never come back home but she has accepted the fact and hopefully she will celebrate her 92nd birthday in March! It's a little bit sad today though, December 22nd is the anniversary of when my sister Janet died many years ago aged 3 so mom has never really enjoyed Christmas much! Her brother also died on December 23rd a few years ago. Still, she is still with us which is really good news and she doesn't have dementia either so we can all talk to her without fear of her wondering who the hell we are or why she's where she is! That's a blessing anyway! I look forward to your writing again, I have been looking every month to see if you came back, well you have now! Have a peaceful, prosperous Christmas and New Year. What's merry Christmas in Portuguese? I know it's Feliz Navidad in Spain! Take care till next time xxx
Hello Anne, and thank you for sharing the good news about your mother. I'm glad you're on board to read my little love letters--it’s nice to know you're still here 🙂
Nice to see you're back! I reached out to an old friend this year too. It felt a bit odd, but my intention was not to pick up from where we left off but to show gratitude. I'd love to know how that went for you.
So nice to hear from you. I'm glad you're doing well. As someone who may some day retire in Portugal, it is always good to hear from someone who is doing it and has created a good life there. Boas festas e feliz ano novo to you, also, from the SF Bay Area.
Shannon, so good to hear from you! I have been wondering where life has taken you. Keep the posts coming. Enjoy Christmas with Milo and your other loved ones.
April? Holy wow-cow! Can't believe it's been that long...but I have missed you, and it is good to see you back, commas and all! (I tend to overuse the ellipsis, myself...) ;-)
