Hang in there! I'm spending lots of time alone with my kittycat but grateful to have a warm, cozy home. Trying to stay busy with projects and picked up painting again and trying nee things like making my own almond milk. :) Stay safe and well!!

Aw Shanna, I am right here with you, but in Porto. Yes, lockdown is tiresome. But, what are you going to do?! Take an online class, watch movies, read a good book. I have to disagree with you about the passage of time. We have blackout shutters so I don't see the light of day until I open them. That being said, I still wake up as usual in the AM. You know it is winter! (We are freezing our butts off, using space heaters and paying nearly four times the usual for EDP electricity. Ugh!) I know it is winter because the sun does not come up over the buildings around us until 10:30-11AM. But, I know the days are getting longer because the sunset is happening ever so slightly later every day. Yay! So, aguente firme sister! Better days are coming. It just may take a few months. We have to make like bears and hibernate a while longer. (You should watch Ground Hog Day. It is funny!) Best to you and Milo! xxoo Lisa

Thank you for a great post! I have plenty to keep me busy - but being new in Portugal (only a few months) - it is cripplingly isolating. Thank goodness for zoom, google meet and even fb (phone calls) for keeping in touch with friends from the US. Of course, the lockdown makes it impossible to meet new people (but, of course, I AGREE with the lockdown as well!). We will all get through this! Stay safe everyone! ❤️

Hi Shanna! Do you know there are still people who think this isn't real!! 200 countries have it but we still have very sad people who think their respective governments are 'controlling' them. Really they feel that they are losing control which is quite different! But it's hard for everyone, we are all affected by this but I had some good news this week, my 89 year old mum had her vaccine on Thursday so that is a huge relief! I'm more worried about people than the virus I have to say but we all have to support each other and be there for one another! I and many others are all here for you Shanna, you have many friends here so take some comfort from that and take care of yourself!! xx

Hi Shanna, as the reality of Covid here in the states keeps climbing as well it matches the confinement we have here toward our appointed leaders... if Covid wasn't enough our democracy is also threatened as well! Here in Naples Fl. We have no such restrictions, many business operate as normal, dining outside and in( with distancing) Mask signs are plastered on business doors but only a few do exempt themselves from wearing one. I believe they think they are above it or still believe they will not get it or it is overblow and a hoax( that last one came from a hospital nurse) Getting back to regular life or "normal" seems so distant, unapproachable really. I hope for you that you find enjoyment in the simple pleasures and comforts during this time. Kiss Milo! Jephrey

All I have is a nut milk bag, so I'm curious what you're using. I'll give oat milk a try. Thanks for the suggestion!

This really resonates. And reminds me to cut myself some slack. It’s not simply another thing to deal with, it’s our life. Our reality. And do watch Groundhog Day. I’ve been telling hubby I feel like Bill Murray! It will make you laugh, and that’s the best medicine in my opinion.

Thanks for the link love sweet friend! ⭐️💕💜 I’m taking some online classes through the Poynter Institute and that—plus writing and walking—is keeping me going. I’m grateful to be healthy. Love you!

Ola Shanna, We just returned to Oregon after our 2.5 month research/sabbatical journey in beautiful Portugal. I'm so sorry that the country is heading back into a lockdown. Like you pointed out, it does seem to be the gathering in homes that is the issue. Most people are so good about wearing masks in public in Portugal. The U.S. should have more restrictions. But of course we are the land of the free to spread around the virus. Luckily, Oregon is doing well comparatively to other states. Looking forward to the Biden administration bringing some sanity back to the highest seat of leadership of this nation. Sounds like there will be more messaging about not gathering indoors and enhanced plans for getting the vaccinations out. Winter is always a hard time of year for me mood wise with the short days and dreary weather and the pandemic just adds another layer of difficulty. Walks with the dog does certainly help! Trina
